The founder of Perkins is the engineer and inventor Frank Perkins, who in 1932 in Peterborough (England) opened his own company for the production of diesel engines.
The main activity of Perkins is the production of gas piston and diesel engines with power from 10 to 2000 kW for use in agricultural, road-communal, construction, marine, industrial machinery and electrical equipment.
Perkins has a combined production capacity of over 300,000 engines per year. Over 75 years, more than 17 million Perkins engines rolled off production lines.
Perkins has 5 factories in the United States, Brazil and England.
In the city of Griffin (USA) - the production of 400 series engines, in the city of Curtiba (Brazil) - the production of 1000 and 1100 series is based, in the city of Peterborough (England) - the production of engines of the 400, 800, 1000, 1100, 1300 series, in the city of Shrewsberry (England) - production of the 2000 series, in the city of Stafford (England) - production of the 2300, 2500, 2800 and 4000 series.
The total production area of all Perkins plants is 153,000 m2.
